Originally from Sydney, Bishop David Chislett has exercised an evangelistic, pastoral and teaching ministry for thirty-nine years (i.e. before and since ordination) that has taken him to different parts of Australia, the South Pacific, Africa, the USA and Europe.

He was ordained in 1979 by the Rt Rev'd John Hazlewood, Bishop of Ballarat, and served various parishes in the Anglican Diocese of Ballarat until moving to Brisbane in 1995 where for ten years he was Rector of the famous Anglo-catholic parish, All Saints' Wickham Terrace. He has served as national Vice Chairman of Forward in Faith Australia, Provincial Secretary of the priestly Society of the Holy Cross ("SSC"), and Anglican Chairman of the Ballarat Joint Anglican/ Roman Catholic Commission. Since 1996 he has been Superior of the Society of Mary, Australian Region.

For Bishop David, Catholic Faith and a commitment to evangelical Gospel ministry belong together, along with an openness to the work of the Holy Spirit who enables us to exalt Jesus as Lord and give him glory in our secular age.

Bishop David holds a General Licence in the Anglican Diocese of The Murray, South Australia.

He is passionate about helping local church communities - as well as individual clergy and lay people - become more effective in their ministry and witness.

  

What about
financial support?

FORWARD MINISTRY is completely dependent on the generosity of friends and supporters to bridge the gap between what comes in through "consultancy" ministry with groups and individuals, and what is required in order to cover our costs. We are not undergirded by a parish or any other organization.

There is always the imperative to provide a ministry to clergy and others in need, some of whom are unable to pay for our time or transport expenses.

A number of people have asked for information as to how they can contribute financially to the expenses of FORWARD MINISTRY.

FORWARD MINISTRY is a provider of resources and support in the areas of evangelism, spiritual renewal, teaching, ministry review and pastoral consultation.

While our approach reflects a Gospel-focussed Anglo-catholic perspective, FORWARD MINISTRY also works ecumenically with Christians of other traditions.

The publication of books, booklets and study guides has begun, as has the compilation of online resources through the FORWARD MINISTRY WEB SITE.

A small network of helpers with skills and expertise in specific areas collaborates to support this new work of Bishop David Chislett.
